Mission Statement

The Relational Cultural Theory Collective is an international group of mental health clinicians, educators and community leaders who study, teach and advance the application of Relational Cultural Theory (RCT).  The central tenet of RCT is that people develop through and toward relationships. These occur within and are influenced by a cultural context.  Above all, RCT asserts that people need to be in connection with others in order to open up, to shift, to transform, to heal and to grow.

Members of the Collective are well-versed in the practical application of RCT in a variety of settings and are available to teach and present to mental health organizations, academic institutions and community groups.

Black Lives Matter

The Relational Cultural Theory Collective stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We are dedicated to dismantling the systems of racism and white supremacy that have existed in the United States for hundreds of years. Embedded in Relational Cultural Theory is movement toward connection and social justice. The Collective is deeply committed to this work and will use our privilege to amplify the voices and actions of anti-racism work. We are doing more than simply acknowledging and speaking out against racism. That is not enough. We welcome everyone to join in this movement toward a more just and compassionate world.
